Human Bloom
Helping you to grow meaningfully, feel deeply, and thrive fully— powered by positive psychology
Hello there!
I’m Katherine—a master practitioner of positive psychology. I help individuals, couples, leaders, and teams grow, feel, and thrive in their lives.
Sounds a little vague—or maybe even cliché? I get it. An earlier version of me might have rolled her eyes at that too.
But here’s what I’ve come to know: The science is clear—what we think, feel, and do each day profoundly shapes our happiness and well-being. That’s why I’ve expanded my career to focus on helping people learn the science and build the skills of well-being—so we can all grow meaningfully, feel deeply, and thrive fully.
Because when we do, we don’t just get by—we bloom into our best, most vibrant selves.
A word on well-being
Positive psychology teaches us that through evidence-based strategies we can, in fact, measurably and meaningfully increase our everyday happiness and overall well-being.
Objectively, it is the scientific study of optimal human functioning which aims to discover and promote the factors that enable individuals and communities to thrive and flourish.
More simply, positive psychology is the science of well-being.
It’s distinguished from “self-help” by the rigorous science underpinning the field, and it’s distinguished from “traditional psychology” by building what’s right (“north of neutral”), not just fixing what’s wrong (“negative to neutral”).
Even more simply, it’s about being fully human: to grow, feel, and thrive.
Join the movement to help 51% of the population flourish by 2051.
Positive psychology isn’t just theory—it’s a practical, evidence-based approach to real-life challenges and everyday situations.
Here are just a few ways it can make a meaningful difference:
A parent working to raise a kind, confident, and resilient child
A teacher, coach, or instructor aiming to instill a growth mindset in students or players
A manager or executive trying to foster engagement and build a thriving team
An employee seeking to prevent burnout and find more purpose at work
A retiree, empty nester, new parent, or anyone in transition navigating a new chapter and searching for direction
A spouse, friend, or colleague wanting to repair conflict, offer meaningful feedback, or strengthen a relationship
If any of these sound familiar, the Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) might be the next step for you.
It’s more than a course—it’s a science-backed journey into what helps humans bloom. And it just might help you—and those around you—do the same.
Meet Katherine
Hi, I’m Katherine—and I’m so grateful you’re here.
TL;DR— I’m a positive psychology practitioner and creator of Human Bloom. I’ve studied under some of the world’s leading positive psychology professors and practitioners at the University of Michigan, the University of Pennsylvania, and The Flourishing Center. I’m also a wife, HR leader, Michigander, runner, big sister, friend, and lifelong optimist.
The longer (and messier) version...
I’ve always been drawn to psychology, but becoming a traditional psychologist never quite felt like the right fit. As a sophomore at the University of Michigan, still unsure of my path, I applied to the Organizational Studies program—an interdisciplinary blend of psychology, sociology, and economics. That’s where I discovered the Center for Positive Organizations, and everything clicked. I realized I could study topics like happiness, psychological safety, and transformational leadership—and use those insights to create change. Still unsure of my job title, but clear on my mission, I pursued a career in Human Resources at a Fortune 50 company—where I could help organizations optimize their human potential, and employees flourish at work. Eventually, I wanted to reconnect with the academic side of what I loved, so I earned my Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. My thesis explored how leaders can support employees’ stress and well-being using zero-cost, evidence-based strategies. More recently, I enrolled in the Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology through The Flourishing Center—and I’m now preparing to teach future practitioners myself!
Why I do this work
While I love what I do in HR, I’m especially passionate about helping individuals and couples build better relationships—inside and outside of work. Because the science is clear: strong relationships are the single most important driver of our well-being. So whether I’m coaching a team, supporting a couple, teaching a student, or cheering on a friend—my purpose remains the same: To help people grow meaningfully, feel deeply, and thrive fully. That’s the reason I created Human Bloom.
“The intent is to have a more complete and balanced scientific understanding of the human experience. The peaks, the valleys, and everything in between. We believe that a complete science and a complete practice of psychology should include an understanding of suffering and happiness… and validated interventions that both relieve suffering and increase happiness.”
— Dr. Martin Seligman and Dr. Chris Peterson, 2005
